Wesley Woods Coronavirus (COVID-19) Statement as of 3/18/2020

The safety and health of campers and staff is always our highest priority at Wesley Woods--you are all like family to us. Seriously, we see you every year just like a family reunion.
Effective 5pm, Tuesday, March 17, the Wisconsin Governor and Department of Health Services (WDHS), ordered a statewide moratorium on mass gatherings of 10 or more people to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
We are in direct and positive conversations with the Wisconsin Division of Food and Recreational Safety staff that inspect our camp each year.
We are working with our March guests to reschedule their retreats. We are following the "15 Day Guidelines" through March 31, and will reevaluate at our April 1 Executive Committee meeting (our Co-chair is a full-time RN in an Illinois urban area), and brings her expertise and real world experience to our decision process.
We are monitoring the American Camp Association Best Practices discussions, but currently the above referenced agency regulations and guidelines are more pertinent and strict, and better guard our guests' safety.
Yes, we have seen the historical and recent anecdotal evidence that the coronavirus is seasonal, and we are hopeful to return to normal, free association in May. HOWEVER, we will follow the US Centers for Disease Control and Wisconsin Department of Health Services regulations--not anecdotes.
Summer Camp
We are proceeding with the intent to operate a normal summer. The camps and dates are listed here. We will turn-on registration after reconfirming in our April 1 Executive Committee meeting.
Contact Us
Between the State "lockdown," and staff illness (Influenza A), and vacation schedules, we are not maintaining regular office hours. Please contact our Executive Director via e-mail, exec@niccamp.org, or cell phone, 815-494-3877.
Connectional Resources
We are a part of a connectional ministry of churches known as the Northern Illinois Conference (NIC), of the United Methodist Church (UMC), comprised of 373 UMC churches throughout northern Illinois. Our sister camp, Reynoldswood, located on the Rock River in Dixon, IL--is open seasonally and, therefore, not currently affected.
